इसीलिए सूत्र Sn=(n/2)[a+l] से, हम पाते हैं कि
(9/2)[2×a+28]=144
⇒(9/2)[2×a+28]=144
⇒9[2×a+28]=144×2
⇒9[2×a+28]=288
⇒[2a+28]=(288/9)
⇒2a+28=32
⇒2a=32-28
⇒2a=4
⇒a=(4/2)
या a=2
अतः a=2 है।
